
Rachel Hirschey, PhD, RN, FAAN, an assistant professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing, has been awarded a $3,975,000 grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The funding will support the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network (CPCRN) Coordinating Center and Collaborating Center (U48-DP006872).
Dr. Hirschey will serve as a co-principal investigator alongside Dr. Stephanie Wheeler, professor of health policy and management, and Dr. Alison Brenner, assistant professor of medicine. The CPCRN, a leader in community-engaged and evidence-based cancer interventions for over two decades, focuses on reducing the cancer burden.
The grant will fund research to improve access to behavioral interventions and develop strategies and policies to ensure access to cancer care.
