The American Public Health Association (APHA) recently announced that Becky Salomon, PhD, RN, PMHNP-BC, Assistant Professor in the UNC School of Nursing, has been elected by her peers to serve as Treasurer-Elect of the Public Health Nursing (PHN) Section. Her two-year term will begin on November 6, 2025, following the APHA Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

The PHN Section of APHA works to promote and strengthen public health nursing as a vital force in achieving health equity and advancing population health. In her role as Treasurer-Elect, Dr. Salomon will support the section’s fiscal stewardship and contribute to planning programs and activities that elevate the practice, research, and policy impact of public health nursing nationwide.

Dr. Salomon specializes in maternal health equity, psychoneurological symptoms, and biobehavioral approaches to stress and safety, with a particular interest in how public policies and social environments shape maternal well-being. Her leadership within APHA reflects a commitment to advancing nursing’s role in creating “the healthiest nation in one generation,” the vision that guides APHA’s work.
