Stone Appointed to Represent Emergency Nurses Association in the Joint Commission Summit on Weighing All Patients in Kilograms

Assistant Professor Elizabeth Stone, PhD, RN, CPEN, has been appointed to represent the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) in the Joint Commission Summit on Weighing All Patients in Kilograms.

The Summit will focus on creating a long-term pathway for change in weighing patients in pounds to kilograms by discussing best practices, as well as barriers for implementation, that will further motivate progress toward safer medication administration practices. Through her involvements with ENA, Dr. Stone, a pediatric emergency nurse, has been involved in advocating for metric conversion to help reduce medication errors for over 8 years. She authored ENA’s Position Statement, “Weighing All Patients in Kilograms” in 2016.

Well done, Dr. Stone!
