- Legal Nurse Update 2014
A continuing education course from the Center for Lifelong Learning for nurses, advanced practice nurses, and primary care clinicians interested learning strategies to avoid lawsuits and reduce risk. Our innovative and dynamic speakers are experienced legal and health care professionals who can speak to your questions regarding nursing practice in the context of health care rules and regulations. They will provide case studies from legal and nursing perspectives, review common negligence accusations, and describe what to expect if you are named in a lawsuit. Race begins 9 AM at the Old Well
All runners, walkers, four-legged and two-legged family and friends are welcome to join the Association of Nursing Students for their annual race. The Intersection of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math: Building the Next Cadre of Minority STEM Professionals
The Office of Multicultural Affairs, in collaboration with Global Health Connections International, NC AHEC, and Triangle Community Foundation Biogen Idec Foundation Micro-Grants in Science Education Fund, wish to invite you to hear Dr. Bernard A. Harris, Jr., Astronaut and President of the Harris Foundation at the Sonja Haynes Stone Center. The emphasis on STEM preparation has been the focus throughout academia. For those who will be future health care providers, all opportunities to connect the dots should be pursued. The more public and scientifically prominent the role model/exemplar with whom students of color can identify the better. This event will bring an astronaut of color into the community to discuss how STEM preparation positioned him for the work he is now doing for the nation. He will discuss research roles, clinical trial involvement and benefits when performed by under-represented scientists, including nurses, physicians, pharmacists, etc. The STEM realities are the crux of this collaboration. - USGC Lunch-N-Learn
