Travers Leads Creation of CDC Pandemic Influenza Triage Tools

Associate Professor Debbie Travers, PhD, RN, FAEN, recently led a team of emergency nurses and physicians in developing a toolkit to triage patients in the event of a pandemic flu outbreak.

Working with the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the team developed and tested the Pandemic Influenza Triage Tools with local health care professionals in Winston-Salem, NC and Akron, Ohio.

Offering a Pandemic Influenza Triage Algorithm and a Community Healthcare Decision Making Tool, the toolkit is designed to support public health preparedness and response to patient surge in a variety of health care settings during an influenza pandemic.
