UNC School of Nursing welcomes International Cancer Care Researcher Dr. Gillian Prue

The UNC School of Nursing will welcome Gillian Prue, PhD, from the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Queen’s University Belfast for a collaborative academic visit in March 2026. Dr. Prue is an internationally recognized researcher whose work focuses on supportive care, symptom management, and improving quality of life for individuals living with cancer.

During her visit, Dr. Prue will meet with faculty, researchers, and members of the PACT (Palliative and Collaborative Care Intervention) research team to discuss ongoing work aimed at improving symptom management and supportive care for older adults with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Her visit will include collaborative discussions with UNC School of Nursing faculty, a presentation to faculty and students, and meetings focused on strengthening global research partnerships between UNC and Queen’s University Belfast.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Prue to UNC. Her expertise in supportive cancer care and symptom management aligns closely with our work in oncology nursing research. This visit provides an opportunity to strengthen international collaboration and explore innovative approaches to improving quality of life for patients with cancer,” said Ashley Leak Bryant, PhD, RN, OCN, FAAN, associate professor at the UNC School of Nursing and member of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Dr. Prue’s visit highlights the UNC School of Nursing’s commitment to international collaboration and advancing innovative models of supportive oncology care through interdisciplinary research and education.
