Van Riper Awarded Faculty Mentoring Award

Hats off to Dr. Marcia Van Riper who has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Faculty Mentoring Award sponsored by the Carolina Women’s Leadership Council in the Junior Faculty mentoring category.

The award, which carries with it a $5,000 stipend, recognizes outstanding faculty members who go the extra mile to guide, mentor, and lead undergraduate and graduate students and junior faculty as they make important career decisions, embark on innovative research challenges, and enrich their lives through public service, teaching, and meaningful educational opportunities. All tenured and tenure-track faculty, as well as fixed-term faculty who have taught at Carolina for at least three years were eligible for the award.

In addition to the storied, the Women’s Leadership Council will hold an awards ceremony recognizing the Faculty Mentoring Awards recipients for their remarkable mentoring during their 2018 annual meeting on Friday, February 23rd at 12:45pm in the Chancellor’s Ballroom of the Carolina Inn.

Thank you, Marcia, for your exemplary work with our junior faculty and congratulations to you!
