Zègre-Hemsey receives UCSF Jane Norbeck Distinguished Service Award

UNC School of Nursing Associate Professor Jessica Zègre-Hemsey, PhD, RN, FAHA, is the recipient of the 2026 Jane Norbeck Distinguished Service Award, one of the University of California San Francisco School of Nursing’s highest alumni honors.

Zègre-Hemsey was recognized for the impact of her research on emergency cardiac care, which focuses on improving outcomes for individuals with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and other time-sensitive cardiovascular conditions.

“From ambulance-based diagnostics to AEDs in the sky, Zègre-Hemsey’s work pushes lifesaving care into the community — closer to where emergencies begin, and the moments when rapid action matters most,” reads the award citation.

“I am beyond honored to be the recipient of the Jane Norbeck Distinguished Service Award and be recognized by UCSF for my robust program of research in emergency cardiac care,” said Zègre-Hemsey.

Since 1984, the Jane Norbeck Distinguished Service Award has honored graduates of the UCSF School of Nursing who have made significant contributions to their profession. The award is named for Jane Norbeck, an alumna of the Master’s Class of 1971 and PhD Class of 1975, and the Dean of the School of Nursing from 1989 through 2000.
