Clinical Assistant Professor
Jean Hammer (she/her) is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing with nearly 20 years of clinical experience in pediatric and adult oncology. Beyond cancer care, her career reflects a deep commitment to public and global health. She has worked in local community mobile clinics, supported children’s psychosocial needs through afterschool programs in post-war Kosovo, and collaborated with oncology nurses in Tanzania.
Her scholarship interests center on promoting equity in nursing education and expanding access to care through population and global health policy, technology, and quality improvement initiatives, with particular emphasis on cancer care, family systems, and climate and environmental health justice.
