Nicole Forlan, DNP, WHNP-BC, IBCLC
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Nicole Forlan is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing. She specializes in Maternal-Newborn Care and Reproductive Health, with a strong commitment to improving outcomes for childbearing families and at-risk populations through evidence-based practice, education, and service. Dr. Forlan has shared her clinical expertise globally, including work in Barbados and Kenya, and is committed to ongoing international collaboration throughout her career.
An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Dr. Forlan is passionate about supporting breastfeeding initiatives and promoting maternal-infant health in her community. Since 2018, she has served as a nurse educator, dedicated to mentoring future nurses and advancing the profession through teaching and scholarship.
Dr. Forlan earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice, and Post-Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education from Duke University School of Nursing. Her scholarly interests include Maternal-Newborn Health, Health Equity and Social Justice, Population and Global Health, and Newborn Feeding.
