Stephanie Guzman

Instructional Designer

Stephanie Guzman is an instructional designer with extensive experience supporting innovative, person-centered teaching and learning in higher education. She holds a Master of Arts in Educational Media from Appalachian State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Spanish from UNC Greensboro, where she graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Her professional background spans instructional design, educational development, student advising, and intercultural learning, with expertise in backward design, learning technologies, and Universal Design for Learning. She has designed and facilitated training for dozens of instructors, developed online and hybrid learning experiences, and contributed to institutional initiatives related to AI in education, digital accessibility, and high‑impact practices.

Throughout her career, Stephanie has led large‑scale academic programs, supported global education efforts, and presented at conferences on trauma‑informed teaching, intercultural learning, and online pedagogy. She has published on student success and intercultural leadership development and holds numerous professional certifications, including Quality Matters (QM), ACUE Effective Teaching Practices, the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). With a commitment to research‑driven design and evidence-based practice, she partners with faculty and campus stakeholders to create engaging, learner‑centered educational experiences that promote belonging, accessibility, and meaningful learning across modalities.
