Congratulations to Cheryl Giscombé, PhD, RN, PMHNP-BC, FAAN, who has assumed the role of Interim Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Cheryl Jones, PhD, RN, FAAN, who has assumed the role of Interim Associate Dean for the PhD Division and Program.

Dr. Cheryl Giscombé comes to the role of Interim Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs after serving in the role of Associate Dean for the PhD Division and Program since 2020. A seasoned leader, Cheryl previously led the MSN program as lead faculty and Assistant Dean, and she completed the National League of Nursing’s LEAD Program in 2021 and the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Leaders Network in 2022. Cheryl is the LeVine Family Distinguished Professor of Quality of Life, Health Promotion and Wellness and directs a robust program of research. Dually trained in nursing and psychology, Cheryl is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, a former Macy Faculty Scholar, a former Thorp Faculty Engaged Scholar, and a recipient of the American Psychological Association’s Carolyn Payton Early Career Award.

Dr. Cheryl Jones is no stranger to leadership at the School of Nursing, having served as the APA Coordinator/Lead Faculty of the Health Care Services Division from 2000 to 2007, as Chair of the Division of Health Care Environments from 2012 to 2016, and as Director of the UNC Hillman Scholars Program from 2013 to today. She comes to the role of Interim Associate Dean for the PhD Division & Program as the Sarah Frances Russell Distinguished Professor and recognized leader in the field of nursing health services research. Cheryl is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, an alumna of the US Public Health Service Primary Care Policy Fellowship and the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellowship programs.
