Davison Receives NCNA Mentorship Award

Congratulations to Associate Professor Jean Davison who was awarded the North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA) Mentorship in Nursing Award at their annual convention in Concord, NC last week.

The Mentorship award is given by the NCNA board to a nurse who participates consistently in active roles with the professional organization at the local state and national level; models the values, attitudes and behaviors consistent with the profession; provides nurturing and education regarding involvement in NCNA to new and potential members; and demonstrates significant leadership in efforts that support retention of members.

“As the chair of NCNA’s Doctor of Nursing Practice Council and a faculty member at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing, Jean Davison has put a high priority on mentorship over the years,” said President Elaine Scherer, MAEd, BSN, RN. “Her vision for the DNP Council has helped raise the visibility of the DNP role, allowed DNPs new opportunities to learn from each other, and increased the council’s contributions to NCNA’s offerings, particularly with the DNP Symposium. At UNC, Davison takes the time to help her students develop and disseminate their projects. She pushes Nurse Practitioners to go above and beyond – while keeping them focused on advancing the health of North Carolina’s underserved patients.”

Congratulations, Jean, on this well-deserved recognition!
