Dieckmann Acknowledged for Teaching and Service

In early March, the SON’s public health nursing faculty met in the home of Dr. Julie Jacobson Vann to honor and thank Janna Dieckmann for her many years of service teaching N470, the undergraduate course in public health nursing.

The faculty presented Dr. Dieckmann with a beautiful quilt, made by our own Chris Harlan, featuring iconic historical photographs of public health nursing, along with a quote by Lillian Wald, the woman credited with the idea of public health nursing:

“The call to nurse is notably for the bedside care of the sick, but to help in seeking out the deep-lying basic cause of illness and misery, that in the future, there may be less sickness to nurse and to cure.”

Thanks, Janna, for all you have contributed to the School of Nursing, and to the profession.
