Doctoral and Post-Doctoral News

[icon type=”fa fa-caret-right” color=”#a5d867″ fontsize=”16”] AnnMarie Walton has co-authored three papers recently:

1. “Workplace Hazards Faced by Nursing Assistants in the United States; A Focused Literature Review,” published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.

2. “Benefits, Facilitators, Barriers and Strategies to Improve Pesticide Protective Behaviors: Insights from Farmworkers in North Carolina Tobacco Fields,” published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health

3. “Perceived benefits and barriers to exercise for recently treated adults with acute leukemia,” also written by Professor Ashley Bryant and published in the Oncology Nursing Forum.

[icon type=”fa fa-caret-right” color=”#a5d867″ fontsize=”16”] Hillman Scholar Laura Britton will be presenting findings from her dissertation research at the North American Forum on Family Planning in Atlanta, GA on October 14-16, 2017. Her poster is titled “Contraception use patterns among women with prediabetes, undiagnosed diabetes and diagnosed diabetes.” Laura Britton is a Hillman Scholar, Jonas Nurse Leader Scholar, and is mentored by Dr. Diane Berry.

[icon type=”fa fa-caret-right” color=”#a5d867″ fontsize=”16”] Mary Killela, an incoming PhD student and Hillman Scholar, has had a poster accepted at the International Society of Pediatric Oncology. Her poster is titled “A case study approach to understanding the value of blogging for social support in parents of children who have completed cancer-directed treatment.”

[icon type=”fa fa-caret-right” color=”#a5d867″ fontsize=”16”] PhD student Amber Kimball has had a poster accepted for presentation at the American Speech Language Associate meeting. The title of her poster is “Feasibility of Utilizing Amplified Hearing Devices in Acute Care Settings for Patients with Hearing Loss”.

[icon type=”fa fa-caret-right” color=”#a5d867″ fontsize=”16”] Postdoctoral fellow Carolyn Lekavich has been named the Oral Abstract Award Winner of the Annual Scientific Sessions hosted by the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses (June 2017).

Carolyn has also had a manuscript accepted in the Journal of Cardiac Failure titled “Measures of Ventricular-Arterial Coupling and Incident Heart Failure Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF): A Matched Case-Control Analysis,”
