The American Journal of Nursing has awarded Associate Dean Gwen Sherwood, PhD, RN, FAAN, a Book of the Year Award in the category of nurse management. The award-winning text is Quality and Safety in Nursing: A Competency Approach to Improving Outcomes (Wiley-Blackwell), which is the “first comprehensive text of its kind devoted to the nursing community’s role in improving quality of care and patient safety.” Dr. Sherwood co-edited the book with Dr. Jane H. Barnsteiner, PhD, FAAN, a professor of pediatric nursing affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania.
