Faculty from the UNC School of Nursing, along with colleagues from nine other health care disciplines at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, have been honored with the 2024 David A. Peterson Award for the Best Article in the volume of Gerontology & Geriatrics Education. The award was announced at the Academy for Gerontology in Higher Education Presidential Symposium and Recognition Event during the Gerontological Society of America’s Annual Scientific Meeting in Seattle, Washington.
The article, “An interprofessional experience preparing a collaborative workforce to care for older adults,” highlights a program that brings together students from various health care disciplines to learn geriatric principles through case studies developed by an interprofessional team. The initiative emphasizes collaborative learning to prepare students to meet the needs of older adults and their families.
