Virtual reality simulations bring real-world healthcare scenarios to the classroom
March 6, 2024

With support from the Anne Belcher Faculty Scholars Program and Carolina’s Center for Faculty Excellence, Associate Professor Elizabeth Stone, PhD, RN, CPEN, CHSE, FAEN, has partnered with Sofia Aliaga, a professor at the UNC School of Medicine, to trial two virtual reality (VR) simulation platforms at the School of Nursing: BodySwaps and Oxford Medical Simulation.
By recreating lifelike healthcare scenarios, VR offers Carolina Nursing students immersive learning experiences that sharpen clinical skills and critical thinking. Looking ahead, our faculty are committed to further enhancing the content and availability of these immersive learning tools for students in our undergraduate programs.
