ABSN and BSN Course Evaluation

Transcript Evaluation Policy – Update – Effective January 1, 2026

We are happy to assist prospective students in determining whether they have completed the necessary prerequisites for admission to our BSN programs. To ensure equitable service and manage the high volume of requests, reviews of transcript evaluation worksheets and feedback are limited to the following applicants:

• BSN applicants who are not earning an Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in Science (AS) degree from a North Carolina Community College.
• BSN Military Pathway applicants who are requesting a conditional letter for the upcoming academic term.

Please ensure that all materials are submitted together in one email to sonevals@unc.edu. Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.

If you are on track to complete an Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in Science (AS) from a North Carolina Community College, please use the transfer guides below to assist in advising for the BSN program.

BSN

• Complete the Evaluation Worksheet with the appropriate courses for each required course.
  • NC Community College transfer students earning an AA or AS degree: In addition to the Nursing Science prerequisites, you must also complete the following courses under the guidelines under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement.
    • Lifetime Fitness (PED 110)Global Language through Intermediate I level (SPA 211, FRE 211)Communication Beyond Carolina (COM 231)
  • For students not earning an AA or AS: You must be on track to complete all General Education requirements for UNC-Chapel Hill and all nursing science prerequisites by the end of the spring semester prior to beginning the program. You must also have earned at least 60 transferable credit hours prior to beginning the program.
    

ABSN

• Complete the Evaluation Worksheet with the appropriate courses for each required course.

BSNM

• Complete the Evaluation Worksheet with the appropriate courses for each required course.
  • For Military applicants requesting a conditional letter of acceptance for the AECP, MECP, NECP, or any other program please read the instructions below carefully:
    • Complete the appropriate transcript evaluation form completely
    • Submit the completed form, along with all unofficial transcripts, and completed DA Form 2125 (if applicable) in one email to: sonevals@unc.edu
    • List your overall GPA
  • Requirements to receive a conditional letter of acceptance:
    • All pre-requisites must be complete. If you have a concern with this requirement, please contact your recruiter.
    • GPA must meet eligibility requirements (2.8 for BSN, 3.0 for ABSN)

Due to the volume of requests received, conditional letters and Form 48 requests can take up to three weeks to be reviewed. Please plan accordingly, as we are unable to expedite any requests.
